Unfortunately, I had quite a disappointing experience at this place.
I chose the restaurant based on a strong recommendation from my secretary to host an important guest. We were assigned an outdoor table that was quite uncomfortable due to the noticeably uneven, sloped ground. Despite asking, we were not accommodated inside, and no alternative outdoor tables were available, so we had little choice but to stay.
Sitting there for over 1.5 hours became increasingly uncomfortable and it resulted in back pain for a day after the meal. At this price point, I would expect a much higher standard of comfort and service.
The food was generally acceptable, although the beef carpaccio on risotto was overly salty. Service was mixed: one server was friendly, while another came across as rather cold. Despite a seemingly adequate number of staff, it was difficult to get their attention.
Considering it was lunch, the service was very slow, and the overall duration exceeding 1.5 hours was also disappointing and not appropriate for a business lunch.
I had heard about Didi’s Frieden for a few years now but I finally had the chance to visit last week for a birthday lunch, and I was incredibly impressed. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm and welcoming, with staff offering great wine and dessert recommendations. The schnitzel was hands down the best I’ve ever had and is an absolute must-try. The highlight was the amazing birthday dessert (not pictured) they prepared that was so personalized to the birthday boy. It was easily the most thorough and impressive birthday dessert I’ve seen prepared by a restaurant. We also had the blueberry streusel which was divine!! I’ll definitely be back, maybe even for my own birthday!
Went here for lunch on a warm day. The patio is shady and separated from the sidewalk by a short wall and plants, so it's quiet and relaxing. I did the guinea fowl breast, aperol spritz, and a Swiss white wine. All very good. Staff was top notch and answered all my questions. Great place for lunch!
Had a great birthday dinner here. We sat outside in the shade and each course of our meal was delicious and beautifully presented. For desert they brought out a gorgeous plate decorated in chocolate and personalized to me. Overall it was a great experience that I highly recommend. If you’re looking for a unique birthday treat, this is the place. Thank you Didi’s Frieden!!!
One of the best experiences we've had in a long time. Our waiter was very kind and attentive and helped us a lot. The 4 course meal was more than filling for my fiance and I. Definitely will visit again when we come back to Switzerland.
