I recently visited Konshi Restaurant and had a mixed experience with the food. While the ambiance was pleasant and service decent, the dishes varied significantly in quality.
The spicy chicken stood out as the best dish of the night. Although it wasn’t authentically prepared, the flavor was above average and satisfying. It had a nice kick and was well-cooked.
Unfortunately, the mapo tofu was disappointing — overly oily and lacking the depth of flavor you'd expect from this classic dish. The mango salad was the weakest item on the table: bland and tasteless, missing the refreshing tang that makes mango salads enjoyable.
The vegetable stir-fry was both salty and greasy, which overwhelmed the natural taste of the vegetables. As for the fried udon mee, it was just okay — not bad, but nothing memorable either.
I enjoyed it. The food was decent and price was reasonable in the centre of Zurich. And it open on Sunday. Went there myself and still ordered a few dishes to try. They were recommended by the waitress and I had to say they were nice. The roast duck was not a recommendation but I really wanted to have that on the day. And it didn’t disappoint.
First of all I have to say that the food was very tasty. The server helped us with the menu and recommended regarding on our wishes. For example the braised pork belly as one of their house specialties.
It’s rare to find a good and affordable restaurant in Zurich, but this place is a great choice! The environment is clean and bright, with no greasy smells. I’ve been here twice, and the portions are big but not oily. It’s also very close to Zurich’s main train station. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!
