The Flave Of Zurich

To try a hotel restaurant or not. That was our question. The two usually don’t go together very well where we live, but we were famished and getting hangrier by the minute. We decided to chance Flave of Zurich (located within the highly rated Novotel Zurich West) because it was walking distance of our hotel. To say that we’re happy that we did is an understatement. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly and attentive hotel/restaurant team and welcomed by the chill lounge ambiance. We were relieved to see a menu that had only a few specialties (rather than a voluminous list of styles and choices that, at times, has left us wondering if the restaurant did anything well). The vegetarian Miso Noodle Bowl and the Chef’s Parmigiana called out to the Hong Kong Food Snob (aka my wife) and I. They were delectable. The Miso Noodle Bowl had unique subtle flavors that complimented each other. The Chef’s Parmigiana pleased the palate too with its crispy texture and savory flavors. One parental unit ordered the Tagliolini (cuttlefish and ink-colored? pasta with zucchini and a hint of citrus). The other parental unit ordered the pork ribs with tasty corn nibs? The usual conversation was gone…replaced by the sounds of laser-focused eating and contented sighs. Thank you Thomas and Nova! You two made our experience even more fabulous! How happy were we with the dining experience? We’ll definitely be back when we are in Zurich again.

The Flave of Zurich was such a win. I had the brasato beef and it was honestly so succulent — tender, rich, and cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the Flave Burger Deluxe, which was generous and full of flavour. A special shout out to Skerdi — he was amazing. Great energy, genuinely kind, and made the whole experience feel warm and fun. He recommended the brasato and he was absolutely right. We’d happily come back if we're ever in Zurich again!

The service was excellent, and the food — I had the chicken club with a side salad — was absolutely scrumpdillyumptious! Fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. I enjoyed it so much I even started checking if they serve breakfast (though I didn’t spot a menu). Honestly wondering if I can get that same club sandwich in the morning — no shame! This spot truly exceeded expectations. And for someone who usually avoids eating in hotels, I was pleasantly surprised. Great food, great service — definitely worth it! Highly recommended 👍

We travel a lot. This place is part of the Novotel hotel and the lack of staff is appalling. Nothing against the staff, they’re short handed and expected to serve guests, customers, and randoms. The service took an hour to have our meal whereas the attention was lacking. We were brought the wrong order and checks were forgotten. Again, nothing against the hardworking bartenders who also ran tables but this is a message for the management.

Together with my family I spent a wonderful evening, eating very well and savoring an excellent Swiss wine. The service was attentive and fast, the dishes excellent, attention to detail and very tasty. In my opinion I think the kitchen staff is very prepared and the level could be even higher!
