Restaurant Neumarkt

The food is incredible it’s extremely tasty and well prepared and the portions are generous enough to share with the table as intended. The wine selection is also very extensive. The atmosphere is very cosy though a tad loud at times. The service is very friendly and welcoming but it is quite slow and can get a bit long. Overall very positive experience to repeat again and again.

Trattoria Neumarkt - “Japatalian food” What a confusing and extraordinary expression but what a great experience to have. We went there as a couple on a thursday night and felt very welcomed right away. Tucked away in a small alley lies the entrance to their Garden where we were sat in between many locals and some tourists, people from all different kinds and ages. The atmosphere is very laidback and easygoing. We started off with a homemade Kombucha and the Sake Ginger Cocktail and ordered the Sourdough Bread with Yuzu Kocho Butter. The drinks and the super delicious bread already set the tone for what was about to come. As Primi (Piatti), we opted for the Spinach Salad (absolute must order), the Gamberetti Fritti and the Tori Karaage which also were absolutely delicious and we did not regret ordering any of those dishes. To cap off our dinner, we both ordered the Cacio e Pepe Udon and loved everything about it, the creaminess of the sauce, the chewyness of the noodles, etc. A special mention goes to the waiting staff which mainly consists of young people, probably students, that are very helpful and oftentimes asked if everything was to our liking and how the food was tasting. Including tips out total came to 175 CHF with everything I described, a water “flat rate” and an Ichnusa-Beer. We would definitely visit Trattoria Neumarkt again and probably will once we’re back in Zurich. This place is a real crowd favorite and has every right to be considered as such. You should book your table in advance and enjoy a great experience.

What truly stood out was the extraordinary fusion between Italian and Japanese cuisine, combining the authenticity and warmth of Italian flavors with the precision and elegance of Japanese techniques. Every dish was creative, balanced, and beautifully executed. The location itself is a hidden gem, tucked away in a charming and reserved corner of Zurich’s Old Town, surrounded by beautiful greenery, historic buildings, and a unique atmosphere that feels both peaceful and sophisticated. The combination of outstanding food, exceptional service, and such a special setting made for a truly memorable evening. It was a amazing Experience, beautiful garden, top service. I cant descripe how delicious it was. The staff in the front of house and in the kitchen work with passion and heart. The fried chicken, the white asparagus, and the burrata with lemon zest were indescribably delicious. We‘ll see us next time❤️

Went few times to Neumarkt, at all itération of this restaurant, and it has always been a great place to eat. However it went even further in greatness since Cucina Itameshi and now back to Neumarkt keeping the Italian/Japanese cuisine concept. The interior is nice but the terrasse is even nicer and cool. The service is kind and professional (maybe a bit slow?) but the highlight is the food. Became my favorite restaurant in Zurich. With drinks, you will be spending around 100chf/head.
